Continuous rainfall disrupts normal life across State

Nuvem bears the brunt as the village was flooded at many places; Mud slides into Loutolim houses; Motorists have a tough time at Arlem Circle

MARGAO: The continuous rainfall on Wednesday disrupted normal life for quite a few people as various places in Margao and surrounding areas were waterlogged.
Nuvem bore the brunt of the monsoons as the village was flooded at many places. However, major disaster was the collapse of the compound wall constructed for the ground at Carmel College. The wall just crumbled under the onslaught of rains, which was constructed by State Urban Development Authority.
In the morning, the National Highway road in front of Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardessai’s house was flooded. The road leading to Presentation Convent High School was totally flooded but after the children were dropped to school.
At Arlem Circle, the motorists had a tough time going across as there is a cross junction there and traffic comes from all sides.  In Loutolim, people residing at Angadi had the misfortune of mud sliding into their houses. The mud was kept there as a small bridge is being constructed but the continuous rain washed away the mud into people’s houses.
