“The cyber frauds cheated the victim who had got in touch with a shell company named Kanyanat from Thailand through Indiamart, an online selling platform. The shell company took several payments from the complainant for purchase of Italian make speakers,” the SP said.

SP Valsan added, “The cyber criminals are defrauding several persons, who are less cyber literate. The accused impersonate themselves while talking to victims.”

“Geographical anonymity and those staying out of India make it very difficult to track and arrest criminals. However, our detection rate is 35 per cent, which is good compared to the overall rate of detection,” the SP added.
