MARGAO: The Chandor Cavorim special gram sabha to prepare the draft Gram Panchayat Development Plan saw good participation from the villagers but not much from the government departments, on Tuesday.
Representatives of the Health Department and Child Development Project officer were the only government officials present for the gram sabha and even the police who were specially invited for the gram sabha stayed away.
It may be recalled that the Director of Panchayat had issued an order asking Zonal Agriculture Officer, Veterinary Services & Animal Husbandry, Fisheries Department, Tribal Welfare along with Assistant Engineers of Water Resources Department and Electricity Departments and Public Health Engineering and roads and buildings to depute their official for the special gram sabha.
The representatives of CDPO and Health Centre gave a status report in the village and were also asked to furnish additional information that would be incorporated in the GPDA. The self help group representative was also asked to assist in preparing the plan.
The villagers expressed their anger over only having meetings without any action being taken in the proposals that were submitted earlier. Of the seven works recommended by the village estimates have been prepared for only three works and the same have not been given to the panchayat as yet.
The Village Development Committee assured the villagers that it would follow up with the departments concerned and ensure that action-taken report is submitted to the people next time.
The villagers were informed that the draft GPDP would be available in the panchayat office by October 15 and the villagers would have to go through it and give their suggestions or recommendations by November 15, 2018 while the final GPDP will be presented to the special gram sabha scheduled on December 19, 2018.
The villagers strongly recommended that a survey of the village be undertaken as it was found that basic information of the village was not available and needed to be collected.
