GSL holds cleanliness drive; MPT awareness marathon

VASCO: A cleanliness drive under “Swachhta Hi Seva” Abhiyan was organised by Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. 
GSL CMD RAdm Shekhar Mital, Sudhakar T N (director, finance), S J Kamat (director, operations) along with other officers, CISF personnel and employees took part in the cleaning campaign from Goa Shipyard Ltd to Mormugao Municipal Council. The campaign started from both the ends of the roads in early morning.
The campaign was executed by three different teams in various parts of town. All executives took part with great enthusiasm and spirit. RAdm Mital said, “GSL has significantly contributed to Swachh Bharat initiatives of the Central Government by embarking on a cleanliness mission to keep the city of Vasco neat and tidy.” He also emphasized on the need of cleanliness by each and every citizen. 
Meanwhile, the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) on Tuesday held a Swacchata Awareness Marathon on the occasion of Swacchata Diwas Gandhi Jayanti. Over 600 participants took part in the first Swacchata Marathon by MPT. 
The maiden Swacchata Marathon was flagged off by Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and Chairman of MPT G P Rai. The minister congratulated the MPT for taking up awareness program for cleanliness.
 “We expect more people to be aware of the importance of cleanliness through such events and MPT surely should be congratulated for it,” he said.
