PANJIM: The Home Department has confirmed that casino operators have met their payment deadline of hiked fees on Friday.
Advocate General Dattaprasad Lawande had informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that if the casino operators do not pay recurring fee by April 27, then under the Gambling Act show-cause notices would be issued, seeking their reply and subsequently, based on the submissions, cancellation of licence would be initiated.
A senior home department official said that the owners of respective casinos had collected their challans, indicating the payments were made.
In a major move, the government last month hiked various licensing fees by up to 4.5 times.
