Singh will participate in a Seva Dal event and is also expected to release the chargesheet against the BJP-led State government. On Saturday he will hold a crucial meeting with the party leaders. Discussions on forming an alliance with like-minded parties are also likely to be held during Singh’s visit, even as the State Committee is not in favour of an alliance. The Congress leader had visited Goa last month. “Singh will meet all the leaders during his visit. The discussions will be centered around the recent news being floated about Congress MLAs intending to quit the party,” sources said.
“All those MLAs who have expressed their displeasure with the party functioning are winning candidates and Congress cannot afford to lose them. Singh is coming down to settle the matter,” sources said.
Herald had reported on Wednesday that Congress MLAs including Pandurang Madkaikar, Chandrakant Kavalekar and Vishwajit Rane are looking at other options, on the assumption that Congress has no future in State politics.
It has been also learnt that Congress MLA Jennifer Monserrate may contest on the new party her husband, MLA Atanasio Monserrate, who was expelled from the Congress last year, will be floating.
