Drug convict escapes

PANJIM: A drug convict, who was arrested by anti narcotics cell from Arambol in January 2012 after being on the run for 12 years, has reportedly escaped from custody yet again.

PANJIM: A drug convict, who was arrested by anti narcotics cell from Arambol in January 2012 after being on the run for 12 years, has reportedly escaped from custody yet again. 
Fifty five year old Babani Basu escaped from the police escort, while being taken to a railway station from where the team along with the accused was supposed to board a train to appear for a trial at Basu’s native place in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. 
Basu had last escaped from the custody on November 4, 1999 when he was being taken for medical treatment. 
He had served three years and eight months of his 20-year sentence for illegal possession of cocktail of drugs at the Aguada Jail at the time of his escape. 
In 1996, he was caught with 120 gms charas, 20 dots LSD, 60 strips of LSD, 20 tablets of Ecstasy and three gms of Ecstasy powder, which were then costing Rs 71, 600.
