Drugs, cash worth Rs 25 lakh seized in Calangute raid

Drugs and foreign currency worth a staggering Rs 25 lakh were seized by police in a raid in Calangute late Friday night.
A 39-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team, led by Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo, nabbed the Nigerian, Monday Felix Odede, near the Calangute Post Office at Naikka Vaddo, Calangute while he was waiting for some customers.
Police caught Odede in possession of 465 gms of cocaine worth of Rs 23.25 lakh, 45 gms of MDMA valued at Rs 90,000, 300 USD and 50 Euros valued at Rs 1.01 lakh, a small electronic weighing scale, mobile phone and other items, all valued at about Rs 25.33 lakh.
Expressing happiness over the seizure, PI Raposo also had a word of praise for his team, comprising Subhash Malwankar, Santosh Govekar, Waman Naik, Luen Pereira, Datta Shirodker and Rajesh Shirodker.
This is the largest seizure of drugs since PI Raposo took over the responsibility of Calangute police station. Earlier, a resident of Calangute was also arrested in possession of cash worth of Rs 20 lakh in regard to drug dealings.
