The driver was later given a sound thrashing by an irate mob, before he was handed over to Mormugao police.
According to an eyewitness, the incident took place on Saturday at around Midnight, when Gaurish Narvekar of Sada was proceeding in his Wagon R car (GA-06-D-4772) from Vasco towards Sada.
“On reaching near the Redkar House at Jetty-Sada, Narvekar lost control of his vehicle and rammed into nine two-wheelers and a four-wheeler, which was parked by the roadside,” said the eyewitness.
“After crashing into the ten vehicles, Narvekar then veered off the road and plunged towards Adani coal handling plant near Redkar House. Narvekar had a miraculous escape as the car hit a tree and stopped from going down further.”
“When some onlookers managed to rescue Narekar from the car, he was found totally intoxicated,” the eyewitness added.
An irate mob then gave Narvekar a sound thrashing, before handing him over to Mormugao police. He has been booked for drunken driving as well as for driving in a rash and negligent manner.
