MARGAO: Acknowledging that atrocities are committed against Muslims in other parts of the country, Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai said that such cases are not only not reported in Goa but will also not be reported in the future.
He said that he would endeavour to solve the Haj house issue.
“Muslims are like family members for me and that is why whenever I cannot go for any programme I send my wife,” he said while speaking at an orientation programme organised by Haj Committee at Fatorda.
Shaikh Jina who has now been elected chairman of the All India Haj Committee while thanking Vijai for all his help and support pointed out that the Haj House issue is not yet resolved. Incidentally, the Muslim community has proposed setting up a Haj House at Verna so that those going for the Haj can be housed there and trained for the Haj.
Besides the orientation programme, those going for Haj were also vaccinated on Wednesday and were administered oral polio vaccine and meningococcal vaccine which is to prevent infection of the brain.
Altogether 320 people including 182 Goans will be leaving for Haj on July 13 where they will first go to Medina and after 8 days they will leave for Mecca and leave for Goa on July 28.
