VALPOI: The residents of Morlem have complained that the electric poles in the village, which are in a dilapidated condition for past several years, could collapse any moment.

The locals claimed that their complaints to the Valpoi Electricity Department have fallen flat. They complained that the Power Department officials are not even attending to their calls, whenever they face the power outages in the village.
The locals have demanded that the old electric poles be replaced with new ones.
“If the Valpoi Electricity Department fails to replace the electric poles and the power outages then we will stage a morcha at Valpoi Electricity Department,” the villagers warned.
The villagers said they have already informed the Assistant Engineer of Valpoi Electricity Department about the bad conditions of electric poles.
The assistant engineer had visited Morlem and had inspected the electric poles. During his visit the official had assured the villagers that the electric poles would be replaced with new ones especially the ones in bad shape. But till date the Valpoi Electricity Department officials have failed to replace the electric poles.
“We are facing the power outages in our village. We have brought the same to the notice of our local MLA and the panchayat but in vain. The Valpoi Electricity Department officials have failed in their duties. We demand that Power Minister, Nilesh Cabral initiate strict action against such officials,” they demanded.
