Fake certificates: Toddy tappers upset over slow pace of inquiry

MARGAO: Aggrieved members of All Goa Toddy Tappers Association are upset over delay in inquiry into their complaints with all government departments and police regarding alleged issuing of fake OBC certificates.

On Saturday, a group from Cuncolim came to the Margao Town Police in connection with their complaints. They had been called by the police for a hearing but the hearing did not take place as the officer in-charge of the investigation was not available.

The complainants were upset about this as they pointed out this is not the first time their inquiry hearing has been delayed. Moreover, they said, “They had already spoken to an officer in the past but that officer was transferred recently and so they have to start all over again.”

Their grievance was that the accused persons in their complaints did not turn up for the hearing and added that the accused have not turned up for hearings in the past too.
