Faleiro asks govt to correct Congress mistake on casinos

PORVORIM: Congress Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro demanded that the government correct the mistake that his party (Congress) did to allow casinos in the State.
“We have made a mistake. Let us be magnanimous enough to admit our mistake and correct it. Just because Congress brought casinos in the State it does not mean that we should continue with them claiming and fearing that the coastal State will become what is known as the sin city of India,” Faleiro said.
“The State government should have a policy which will remove casinos from River Mandovi in a phased manner,” Faleiro said.
He further said that Goa is becoming sin city of India with the scourge of drugs, gambling, prostitution, and that the government should take some action.
“Now drugs have started travelling to the hinterland and various colleges, including the engineering colleges. Some action should be taken by the government,” he said.
Speaking on Dabolim airport, Faleiro said the government has stated that Dabolim will survive even after Mopa comes up but in other areas like Cochin, Bangalore and Hyderabad the same was said but they were later closed.
