Speaking on the occasion Quepem MLA Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar said that awareness programmes are mostly organised in the rural areas for the benefit of the farmers who have no much information of various subsidies and schemes of the government which they are entitled after obtaining a farmers card.
Urging the farmers to avail the facility of harvesting machine where the government is giving a subsidy of Rs 1000 and the remaining amount of Rs 1250 has to be paid by the farmer.
“Rs 1250 per hour which has to be paid by the farmer will be borne by me so that farmers can harvest their paddy fields completely free of cost” Kavlekar assured.
Later Deputy Director of Agriculture Nevil Afonso explained various schemes and procedures for applying for the schemes. Fr George Quadros explained how to use the latest technology to cultivate paddy fields.
Quepem Municipal Council Chairperson Filu D’Costa, Vice Chairperson Paulo Fernandes, Councillor William, Luiza, Deepali, panch members were present on the occasion.
