PWD officials said the file has come back to the Margao PWD office to comply with the procedure on the validity of the tender. It is learnt that the PWD officials will now contact the contractor on the matter before the file is sent back to the PWD head office in Panjim to comply with the procedure.
“Following the fire incident, we have asked the head office to expedite the file so that the contractor is given the work order and work on the long delayed water tank finally commences at the old fish market site”, PWD assistant engineer, Vijai Kudchadkar, told Herald on Wednesday.
Sources in the PWD said only government intervention can help the clearance of the file and issuance of work order to the contractor to start work on the project.
The overhead water tank project has been pending with the PWD since 2011 when it had tendered the project only to be scrapped and invite a fresh e-tender, which is still stuck up in bureaucratic
red tape.
