A house in Anjuna, near the tamarind tree opposite St Michael Church, caught fire at around 4 am, reportedly following a suspected short circuit involving a refrigerator in the kitchen.
The house belongs to William Almeida and was occupied by a senior citizen couple. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The Mapusa Fire and Emergency Services team rushed to the spot after receiving information about the fire and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread to surrounding areas.
Preliminary estimates indicate that household belongings and property worth more than ₹3 lakh were damaged in the fire.
