Panjim: Around 2,100 places and counting have been sanitised by the fire dept even as the squad is attending to emergencies.
537 places were sanitised in Margao followed by 364 in Mapusa and 282 in Pernem. In Pilerne 144 places were sanitised, Vasco 44, Old Goa 85, Bicholim 131, Valpoi 123, Kundaim 43, Ponda 59, Verna 144, Curchorem 104, Canacona 91, and the Headquarters sanitised 41 places.

“All public places prioritized by municipalities or panchayats and recommended by the DMA and the panchayat dept such as bus stands and stops, community halls, markets, panchayats, temples, govt offices, secretariat, ministerial block, assembly complex, fish stalls, churches, COVID-19 wards at Goa Medical College (GMC), Goa Dental College (GDC), health centres, ferry boats of RND, Sea Scan Maritime Centre, taxi stands, electricity dept, police station/out posts, checkpost , sports complex, banks, Goa Dairy, Ravindra Bhavan etc were sanitised with the help of Quick Response Fire Tender and High Pressure House Reel Hose using 0.5% concentrate Sodium Hypochlorite solution,” the dept stated.
KTC buses at Panjim, Porvorim, Mapusa, Pernem, Bicholim, Valpoi, Ponda Margao, Canacona transporting the COVID-19 duty staff; and the buses of GDC, GMC, and the Nursing Institute were sanitised.
The dept also procured 60 reusable PPE’s – Full Body Protective Suits, Nitrile Gloves Safety Goggles for the Fire Fighters while undertaking sanitization work.
