A week-long Bhagwat Saptah began in Vasco da Gama on March 9, marking the first time such a spiritual programme is being organised in the city. The event is being held at the Baina Maruti Temple and has attracted large numbers of devotees from across Mormugao Taluka.
The programme, scheduled to continue until March 15, 2026, has been organised by members of the Sambhaji Nagar Brahman Samaj along with the local Hindu community. The initiative aims to promote spiritual awareness and collective prayer for the welfare and well-being of residents in the region.

The idea of conducting the week-long Bhagwat Saptah in Vasco was conceptualised by Dwarkanath Bhatji of the Ambabai Temple and Prasad Bhatji from the Maruti Temple in Baina.
Organisers said the programme is being conducted under the guidance of Purushottam Buva Pokharankar from Kudal, who is delivering daily Bhagwat discourses throughout the week. He is accompanied by Mahesh Kamlakar Guruji along with a team of supporting musicians led by Ameya Patwardhan.
As part of the programme, religious rituals and readings from the Bhagwat scripture are conducted every morning, followed by spiritual discourses in the evening. According to the organisers, the Bhagwat pravachan takes place daily from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm, after which aarti is performed and prasad is distributed among devotees.
Organisers said the initiative marks a significant spiritual milestone for Vasco, as it is the first time that a Bhagwat Saptah is being held in the city. They added that the event aims to bring devotees together through devotional teachings and spiritual discourse.
Residents and devotees from across the taluka have been invited to participate in large numbers and take part in the week-long spiritual programme at the Baina Maruti Temple.
