The Sessions Court, South on Monday held guilty a fish loader from Sangli-Maharashtra for murdering his co-worker Sana Sheikh at the wholesale fish market three years ago.
The court headed by Judge P V Sawaikar held Rajesh Marathe (32) guilty under Section 302 of the IPC.
The incident occurred on the night of November 1, 2005 when the duo, both working as loaders in the wholesale fish market, quarreled with each other over some issue.
In a fit of rage, accused Rajesh picked up a bottle and broke it before stabbing the deceased, who died on the spot.
Then Margao Police station incharge, PI Santosh Dessai, who investigated the case, informed that the there were eyewitnesses who saw the accused hitting the deceased with a broken bottle right on the throat, causing instant death. The deceased was putting up at Tolsanzor at Aquem.
Public Prosecutor Sarojini Sardinha appeared for the state.
The accused will now be heard on the point of sentence.
