GBSHSE to decide on the Class XII marks tabulation process next week

PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) are expected to finalize by next week, the policy for tabulation of marks for Class XII Board examinations 2021 based on the internal assessments conducted by the schools. 

The Board has received batch of suggestions from the stakeholders and citizens for tabulating marks of Class XII students. While there are some who recommended mass promotion, some stressed on internal assessment at the earliest.

Around 19,025 students had registered for Board examination, which were initially scheduled from April 24 but had to be postponed and later cancelled in view of COVID pandemic.

Speaking to HERALD, GBSHSE chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that the Board is in process to finalize the tabulation policy and it is expected this week. 

“All the suggestions received from the citizens will be examined,” he said. 

The Board had earlier said that the results of class XII students would be finalized as per well- defined objective criteria in a time bound manner.

For Class X, the evaluation of the students is based on the marks scored in the different exams for the Academic year 2020-21 and their performance of Class IX. 

“The Board is likely to follow a similar methodology for Class XII students, where their performance of Class XI will be also taken into account,” sources said.
