MARGAO: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) will be holding its State Executive meeting on Sunday. The committee will look into the differences that have surfaced after Vijai Sardessai’s decision to support Manohar Parrikar-led BJP government.
One of the agenda of the meeting will be the receipt of the resignation of party President Prabhakar Timble and deliberations on appointing new president.
When asked whether GFP was still united after the resignation of
Timble as president, executive member Prashant Naik said, “There was news that there are differences within GFP. But 80 percent of the executive committee of the party was present at the assembly on the day of floor test which itself means that we are together and tightly bound.”
When asked why the president quit after the decision of the GFP mentor Vijai, he said, “Every major happening will have its own cause and effects and differences do surface. But after the meeting there won’t be any differences.”
Rebutting the allegations of GPCC chief Luizinho Faleiro that GFP was in a secret pre-poll tie up with BJP, Naik said, “We want to make it clear that there was no understanding with the BJP. In fact, Luizinho should look at how he and his party has backstabbed us and now that all the fingers of the Congress men point at Luizinho for the post poll debacle, he has got a lot to answer.”
Meanwhile, Vijai has said that he would now be after the starting of the work of replacing of north main sewer line which is a major issue. “Rs 90 crore estimate for main works and some additional land are required to replace the line from Arlem to Shirvodem which I will follow up on priority. Sonsodo, Fish Market, KTC are issues of the constituency which are on the priority list,” Vijai said.
