Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Friday that the Goa State Taxi Policy will be finalised by September 10, 2025. The announcement followed a high-level meeting with coastal MLAs, ministers, and key stakeholders at the Mantralaya in Porvorim.
While the government continues to push for the integration of all taxi operators under a unified app-based system, many local taxi drivers had been strongly opposed to the move.

Addressing the media, CM Sawant said the new policy will prioritise transparency, rate rationalisation, and safety, aimed at offering tourists a secure and hassle-free experience in Goa. “The government is working on a state policy that will ensure transparency, rate rationalisation, and enhanced safety. Tourists must feel secure. We’ve taken inputs from all parties, and the draft will reflect the concerns of every taxi operator,” Sawant said.
He confirmed that this upcoming policy will supersede the earlier aggregator guidelines issued in May, which had sought public feedback from stakeholders.
