PANJIM: In view of series of threats and attacks on GoaMiles drivers, the aggrieved group has sought Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s intervention to protect them from the tourist taxi lobby.
The drivers also met Transport Director Rajan Satardekar on Thursday to narrate the ordeal they have been facing from the taxi operators across the State.
“We are not retaliating to violent attacks on us and we will continue to behave same because we have faith in the government. We are going by the word of our CM – that it’s the choice of passengers to choose the taxi they wish to travel in,” said one of the GoaMiles drivers, during a brief interaction with reporters outside the Transport Department.
The drivers also brought to the notice of the director that taxi operators have been acting like policemen and RTO officials by demanding the GoaMiles drivers to show their license.
The delegation said they expect CM Sawant to intervene in the situation and take strict action against the attackers.
