PANJIM: The Goa government on Wednesday amended its special grants scheme of Rs 400 per student/month to educational institutions.
According to the new amendment, schools will be able to upgrade their infrastructure and services from special grants.
The circular issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) states that, “There were several requests from the schools to amend the scheme and incorporate additional items to incur expenditure from this grants which were under consideration of Government for some time.”
The revised list includes construction/renovation of building, toilet, playground, compound wall of the primary school, procurement of furniture, computers, teaching aids and peripherals, books for library, water and electricity bills, audit fees, sports and medical instruments.
The circular further states that expenses incurred in outsourcing of cleanliness of school premises and surrounding areas should be based on performance of the agency on quality of service but does not include any fixed remuneration.
“TA/DA towards attending in-service training courses, workshops seminars organised by SCERT on value education, yoga education, language skill development, karadi path for English language capacity building courses or any other approved by DoE,” says the circular.
Meanwhile, the revised list also includes expenses to be done on activities imparting civic sense, organising wealth from waste competitions, cleanliness drives in schools and surroundings.
