MARGAO: Former Home Minister Ravi Naik has said that detection of drugs in the state proves that the government has failed to stop drugs and rave and moonlight parties.
During an interaction with newsmen at the Ravindra Bhavan on the sidelines of a seminar on education on Thursday, Ravi said that the presence of drugs have resulted in criminal activities including murders.

He was replying to a question on his assessment of the law and order situation in the state during the 10-month tenure of the BJP led Parrikar government. “These same people were criticizing the previous government for rising crimes and drug trafficking. But, the detection of drugs shows that the menace continues. The rave and moonlight parties also continues”, he added.
On the Shigmo controversy in Ponda taluka, Ravi said that his group is determined to hold the shigmotsav festivities in Ponda like in the last 32 years. “We have not come forth from somewhere. We have been organising the festivities for the last 32 years,” he said.
He, however, said that members of his group would participate in the meeting called by the government to iron our differences between the two groups.
