The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President has issued a show-cause notice to GPCC executive member Elvis Gomes for allegedly campaigning against the party’s official Zilla Panchayat (ZP) candidate Maria (Mary) Menezes in the Aldona constituency.
According to the notice, Gomes is accused of supporting and campaigning for an independent candidate, an act viewed as indiscipline and a violation of party norms during the ongoing ZP elections. The GPCC has taken serious note of the alleged anti-party activities.
Elvis Gomes has been asked to submit his explanation within seven days from the date of receipt of the notice, failing which the party may initiate further disciplinary action.
The development comes amid heightened political activity during the Zilla Panchayat elections, with parties seeking to ensure unity and adherence to organisational discipline at the grassroots level. The GPCC has reiterated that strict action will be taken against members found working against official party candidates.
