PANJIM: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected till Saturday even as the State is experiencing incessant rainfall for past three days.
As per the India Meteorological Department, Goa, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur on Saturday while heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places from June 30 to July 2, 2019.
With the South West monsoon active over the State, IMD has issued an ‘orange alert’ (to be prepared) till Saturday and ‘yellow alert’ (be updated) on Saturday.
The advisory states, “In view of intense rainfall forecast, people are advised to abstain from
outdoor activities as much as possible during the period of very heavy rainfall and also watch for weather updates from IMD.”
With strong winds likely over the south west and adjoining west central Arabian Sea, IMD has advised fishermen to not venture into the sea till July 2.
The heavy downpours again exposed the work quality with many places experiencing flooding, while a couple of government offices also had leaking roofs. Traffic too came to a halt for several hours at various places, with motorists taking hours to reach Agassaim from Cortalim .
