PANJIM: Author Hema Naik has been selected for the Sahitya awards for Konkani translation “Kali Katha: Via Bypass,” while Fr Francis D’ Britto got the Sahitya award for Marathi translation. The prize will be presented to the translators of each book at a special function held sometime in August 2014.
The original Hindi novel “Kali Katha: Via Bypass “ was written by Alka Saraogi
Fr Francis D’ Britto got the award for Marathi for “Subodh Bible – Nava Karar.’ The original is Bible: the New Testament in English.
The executive board of the Sahitya Akademi met at Ravbindra Bhavan New Delhi under the chairmanship of president Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari and approved a selection of 23 books for the Sahitya translation prize 2013.
The books were selected on the recommendation made by the selection committees of three members each in the concerned languages.
The prizes relate to translations first published during the five years published during the five years prior to the year immediately preceding the year of the prize of translation.
