Asserting that Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane is only interested privatisation of medical facilities for vested interest, BJP Yuva leader Rupesh Mahatme has demanded that Rane should either be told to step down or sacked from the Ministry for his various sins of omission and commission.
Mahatme warned of an agitation if services in hospitals and health centres do not improve within a month’s time.
Addressing a press conference, Mahatme said that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat is looking after the affairs of Hospicio and Canacona hospitals on a day to day basis, and wondered whether there’s any need for Rane’s continuance as the Health Minister. “The CM has been personally looking after Hospicio. Kamat receives wireless messages from Canacona hospital about the entry and exit of doctors from the community health centre”, he said, adding “in this situation, the role of the health Minister is rendered redundant and should be sacked immediately”.
Saying that the health Minister is only interested in pushing privatizations of hospitals, Mahatme said that Rane should resign for his utterances against the BJP MLAs or threatened to face an agitation.
Saying that Rane has recruited the staff from Valpoi at Hospicio hospital, Mahatme said the BJP will not remain a silent spectator if the staff does not mend its attitude towards the patients and visitors.
On the controversial City Development Plan for Margao, Mahatme said even the Margao Municipal engineers were not aware of the features of the CDP and demanded that the Chief Minister scrap the plan forthwith. “Margao citizens are confused on the proposal in the plan to freeze development in the state. Even the Chief Minister will not be able to answer queries on the plan”, he added.
Mahatme warned that the BJP will take to the streets if the government bulldozes its way with the CDP against the wishes of the citizens.
