IMD warns of heavy rains till August 10

MAPUSA: Even as the rainfall activities in Goa on Thursday subsided, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rains till August 10 and advised fishermen against venturing into the Sea.

After causing much destruction for last two days across State, the rainfall partially reduced on Thursday, thus bringing much needed relief.  Goa however, recorded 2.4 inches of rainfall for the day.  In last 72 hours, Goa has recorded almost 10.5 inches of rainfall.

The impact of monsoon fury continued on Thursday with several low-lying villages being inundated and river waters overflowing. 

So far, the month of August has recorded 13 inches of rainfall. The State’s total seasonal rainfall has touched 104.36 inches, which is 23% excess to the normal average of 84.69% during the period.
