NAVELIM: In a scathing attack onIindependent candidates against him in Navelim, the GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro, said that they were stooges of the BJP who had no policies, programmes and vision, for the constituencies.
“None of them are attacking the BJP in their speeches. They are only attacking me.  They are totally agents of the BJP. None of the other candidates are even qualified,” he said.
He cautioned the people not to get misled by the plethora of candidates in the fray, specially Cipru (Edwin Carozo) and asserted that “they are all vying to split the secular vote to benefit the communal BJP who is backing Avertano Furtado who was an abject failure as an MLA for the last five years”
While lamenting the abject lack of development in the Housing Board area for the last 10 years, Luizinho Faleiro, the Congress candidate, urged the massive crowd gathered for his meeting at Rumdamoll, to vote decisively for the Congress for all inclusive development and better future of their children.
He regretted that while he succeeded in getting 9 Congress governments elected all over the country, in Goa the Congress lost at the last elections. “Last five years has shown you the people who really works for the people and you are all well aware of the lies the BJP has told,” he said.
Mentioning some of the salient features of the Congress manifesto, he said the Congress party was committed to bring about overall development of the State where all Goans got the benefits and not a few or a particular community.
There were quite a few Congress leaders from Karnataka at the meeting including Minister S K Patil, MLA Lobo, Youth Congress President and ex minister.
Earlier while canvassing in the area Luizinho was greeted warmly by the residents with some hugging him while others seeking his blessings and he was visibly upset to see the pathetic conditions in the area which was spic and span when he was representing it.
I am happy connecting back with my voters and it really inspires me to work for their betterment,” he said on the campaign trail while explaining that he was not planning to contest these elections but was forced to do so as the party members felt that only he could wrest back the seat for the Congress Party and that he was ever willing to make any sacrifice for the benefit of the party.
