Investment meet prelude today

The Goa Investment Summit 2015 prelude,jointly hosted by the Goa government and CII, will have corporates from around the country weighing their options about investing in the state

PANAJI: The Goa government and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will jointly host a prelude to the Goa Investment Summit 2015, on Friday.
The prelude to the summit will apprise investors of investment opportunities, processes and policies in Goa and share key initiatives taken to make the state an aspirational investment destination. The summit will take place later this year.
CII-Goa Chairman Kirit Maganlal said, “I think this summit will help many prospective investors understand what the state has to offer and more importantly the finer point of the investment policy. Some of the more important corporates like  Tatas will be present at the meet.”
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will share Goa’s Investment Vision, while Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar is expected to speak on the unique Goan advantage to investors. Industries 1minister Mahadev Naik will speak on an industry-friendly administration through an enabling institutional and governance structure being a necessary contributor to ease of doing business.
The first session will focus on facilitating setting up business in Goa through the Investment Policy and Goa Investment Promotion Act, 2014, and will provide insights on framework and processes for setting up business. The second session would focus on ‘Enablers for executing business in Goa – current state and upgradation initiatives’. Incentives offered for investment in Goa will be covered in the next session. 
The session on human capital will provide an overview of skill enhancement initiatives for training the Goan workforce in line with industry requirements. Initiatives to enhance Goa Industrial Development Corporations in line with industry requirements will also be discussed. The Goa Tourism Vision session would provide an overview of key initiatives in the industry pipeline. The conference will end with an open house forum.
The government had recently released the Goa Investment Policy 2014 towards generating 50,000 jobs and facilitating new investments of Rs 25,000 crore in five years, and also proposed to set up the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (IPFB) to promote and facilitate investment.
