Journo moves HC for advance bail

PANJIM: Senior journalist Rupesh Samant, accused of sexual harassment by six women journalists, on Friday moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa challenging the lower court order denying him anticipatory bail. The petition will be heard on Monday.

Crime Branch, in the meanwhile, has approached the North Goa district and Sessions Court, seeking a non-bailable warrant against him.
A team has also been formed to search for Samant who is presently in hiding even as Goa police recently issued a look out circular against him. The search for him is on across Goa and the neighbouring states.
Mapusa District and Sessions Court had turned down his anticipatory bail petition in an order on October 14. Four FIRs (first information reports) have been registered against him for allegedly sexually harassing the complainants and sending them objectionable messages.
