PANJIM: As the inquiry committee of the Goa Medical College has found no evidence to substantiate the claim made by a lady doctor at the Goa Medical College of sexual harassment by three senior doctors, she could now face a fine and a deduction of 5 per cent from her salary. This is as per provisions of the Act in case of frivolous complaints.
The panel headed by Dr Savita Chandra, the head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department in its report presented to the dean of GMC, Dr V N Jindal, has stated that the complainant has failed to prove any specific instance of sexual harassment during inquiry.
A lady doctor had complained in late July that three senior doctors were sexually harassing her.
Meanwhile, a doctor, who has been accused of misbehaving with students at Goa Dental College, appeared before the Goa State Human Rights Commission Friday in connection with the case.
The commission had taken suo moto cognizance of the case and directed the doctor to appear before it and submit a reply.
The Commission granted time to the doctor on his request. The case will now be heard after two weeks.
