PORVORIM: The State Cabinet has approved the proposal to de-notify the land which was acquired to set up the Industrial Estate at Shiroda village in 2015. The State government had acquired land measuring 1,87,825 sq mtrs under survey numbers 965, 974, 975, 979, 980 and 987 for the proposed industrial estate at Shiroda under Phase-II in October 2015. However, the possession of the land was not taken and as such there was a proposal for its denotification.
In another decision, the council of ministers have resolved to approve ex-post facto grant of premises measuring an area of 64.24 sq mtrs on the ground floor of the South Goa building to the postal department free of cost to open a post office along with Passport Seva Kendra.
In another decision, the Manohar Parrikar-led cabinet has approved increasing the monthly remuneration of Bal Rath drivers and attendants-cum-cleaners by 10 percent. As per the decision, the Bal Rath driver will be paid Rs 11,000, up from the existing monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 while the attendants/cleaners will get Rs 500 additional to their existing honorarium of Rs 5,000.
For over a year, the Balrath staff have been alleging injustice towards their need and demanded to hike their salaries to around Rs 20,000 and Rs 14,500 for drivers and attendants respectively.
