CANACONA: A leopard killed a dog on Palolem beach on Friday evening.
A foreign female tourist staying on the northern side of Palolem beach told Herald that on hearing barking of dogs, she went to the window of her rented and saw an adult leopard jumping on a dog at a distance and within a minute running away with the prey.
The northern side of Palolem is surrounded by hills with dense forest cover.
, but with a river separating the village from the forest, the chances of leopards entering the village are slim.
The intrusion of the leopard in the village could be attributed to the presence of many dogs which are mostly fed well and pampered by the western tourists staying at the Palolem beach.
