Sale of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and also foreign liquor will be a bit costly in the State.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, in his budget speech, said that in order to mop up more revenue, it is proposed to revise the excise duty/fee structure on IMFL other than milk pouch and wines manufactured in the state of Goa/imported from the rest of India and foreign liquor imported from outside India or transported from Customs station into Goa.
The liquor whose maximum retail price (MRP) is upto Rs 75 per 750 ml, the excise duty/fee will be retained at Rs 10 per bottle. But whose MRP is between Rs 76 and Rs 225 per 750 ml, the excise will go up from Rs 31.50 to Rs 36.50 per bottle.
Similarly, the liquor whose MRP is above Rs 225 upto Rs 500 per 750 ml, the excise fee will go up by Rs 5 from Rs 40 to Rs 45 per bottle.
Also the duty on mild beer will be increased from the existing Rs 10 to Rs 11 per bulk litre manufactured in Goa or imported or transported from custom stations and sold in Goa.
In a related development, the chief minister said in keeping with the trend of having small pubs and microbreweries, the government proposes to explore possibility of licensing and allowing the setting up of pub/microbreweries in Goa.
LICENCE FEE: In order to rationalize the license fee structure for retail sale of liquor, the government has proposed to increase the fee for 5-star hotels from the existing Rs one lakh to Rs 2 lakh per annum.
All ‘C’ category hotels with swimming pools, the licence fee is proposed to be increased for retail sale of IMFL and country liquor for consumption on premises to Rs 20,000 per annum.
CANACONA: The government has tried to bring parity for retail sale or bars in Canacona as a disparity has been corrected. Hitherto, the same licence fee charged for municipal areas will be applicable to coastal villages of Agonda, Talpona, Galgibaga, Polem and Cola. It will be Rs 4000 per annum instead of Rs 7000 per annum.
