PANJIM: The arrest of a local for alleged possession of drugs has brought to the surface links into the Vagator rave party, a case that garnered national attention for its Bollywood connection.
A team from Crime Branch (CB) of Goa Police, led by Inspector Rahul Parab arrested Tony Fernandes for allegedly possessing charas, valued at Rs 90,000. While Fernandes was soon released, as the seizure was below the commercial quantity, the raiding team succeeded in ascertaining his links with the rave party.

Sources told Herald that Fernandes supplied party drugs to Kapil Jhaveri, the Bollywood actor who was also caught for possessing drugs and co-hosting the rave party at Vagator on August 15-16.
“We zeroed-in on Fernandes after the ongoing investigation into the rave party established his role in supplying drugs. He has confessed to have directly supplied drugs to Jhaveri for the party,” an official said seeking anonymity.
He has now been arrested for the previous case while others are also on the radar of the investigation team.
Twenty four persons, including foreign nationals and Indian tourists, were arrested following the raid at Firangipani Villa at Vagator. Jhaveri, along with three foreigners, was also slapped with charges of possessing drugs, worth Rs 9 lakh. Cocaine, MDMA, Ecstacy tablets and charas was seized during the raid. EDM co-promoter Shailesh Shetty was among those arrested. All the accused are currently on bail.
The CB team is further probing Fernandes’ connection with Shetty or other Bollywood celebrities with evidence being collection against all those involved.
The team involved in the raid included PIs Mangesh Volvoikar and Narayan Chimulkar, while SP Shobhit Saxena and DySP Sunita Sawant monitored the operation.
