PERNEM: Rupees 2.35 crore is the loss in Pernem taluka due to flooding, according to the initial assessment of the agriculture department. However, this amount might change in final report.
Around 468 hectares of paddy fields have been destroyed in the taluka. Besides, banana, mango, coconut, cashew, arecanuts plantations spread over 150 hectares have also been destroyed.
The worst affected village in Pernem taluka is Allorna where 209 hectares of paddy fields cultivated by 105 farmers were damaged; while 90 hectares of paddy fields cultivated by 200 farmers were affected in Dhargal; in Ozari 60 hectares.
