Man caught attempting theft at Dabolim, beaten up

VASCO: A man who was caught while attempting to commit theft in a bungalow at Alto Dabolim was beaten severely by the public before handing him over to the police. The accused has been identified as one Suraj Gupta (29) native of Uttar Pradesh. According to eyewitness, the accused along with three other persons had come down to the residential area behind Antrix complex at Alto Dabolim in a Honda Dio scooter and they were attempting to break open the main door lock of a Bungalow owned by one Augusto Pereira (owner along with family are staying abroad and the house was locked). However, before they could succeed in their design an alert neighbour noticed them and raised alarm. Anticipating trouble, three of them ran away taking both the scooter leaving Suraj Gupta alone. “Even the fourth person was attempting to run away. However, he was caught by the public, severely beaten up before handing him over to the police,” said an eyewitness.
