Acting swiftly on inputs from local residents, Mandrem police cracked down on massage parlours allegedly running an illegal prostitution racket in Harmal and rescued eight women within 24 hours of receiving the information.
Police officials said the operation was carried out with the active cooperation of locals, who had raised concerns about suspicious activities in the area. Based on the inputs, a team from Mandrem police conducted raids at the identified premises and took action against those involved in the illegal operation.
Eight women were rescued during the raids, and further investigation is underway to identify and book the main accused behind the racket.
