Margao: Kadamba Bus terminus wore a deserted look on Wednesday due to the nationwide strike. The people traveling in the morning especially to Vasco and Ponda had to wait a long time for a bus. By 10.30 am, there was hardly any passengers in the bus stand. Only 5 private buses were parked near the shed.
There were no private buses from Karwar, Velim, Ponda, Curchorem, and Sanguem. The result was that many employees from these villages who work in Margao took a leave.
A few city buses and buses traveling from Canacona were operational. The drivers of the private buses informed that they were not sure whether everyone was on strike. “We got the news that some buses were operating so we also came”, said one driver.
