MARGAO: The feast of Holy Spirit Church, Margao was celebrated with great pomp and religious fervour on Sunday.
Thousands of devotees attended the church services which began in the wee hours of Sunday at 5 am. Fr Manuel Gomes was the main celebrant of the concelebrated high mass at 9.30 am.
In his homily, Fr Gomes underlined the need to completely surrender oneself to God come what may in one’s lives. He said the Holy Spirit is moving all over the world and emphasised the need to participate in the Mass and other sacraments.
The entire Church square and the Old market area wore a festive look on Sunday with hawkers and vendors displaying their products for sale. Regarding as a “Purmatachem fest”, dry fish along with other items, including furniture were on display at the fair, which would wind up only on next Sunday.
