PANJIM: Senior Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) Central Committee member and general secretary Lavoo Mamledar on Monday accused party president Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar of giving a fraudulent letter of support for the formation of the State government without discussing the issue with the Central Committee.
Addressing the media, Mamledar said, “Party President Deepak Dhavalikar has become autocratic and is taking unilateral decisions. I accuse him of giving letter of support for the formation of State government without discussing the issue with the Central Committee. It is mandatory for any political party to take approval from its Central Committee before taking such a decision.”
He said, “We were not taken into confidence. Deepak signed the letter on his own. There was neither a resolution nor a meeting to support it. Deepak has been acting arbitrarily for the last several years and it is time to control his behaviour for the sake of the party.” Mamledar also said there was also an attempt to merge MGP into BJP in December last year.
Meanwhile, Dhavalikar clarified that the party’s Central Committee had resolved to support the BJP-led coalition government. “The Central Committee had resolved to support the government and Mamledar’s outburst against the party is unwarranted,” Dhavalikar said.
Executive President Narayan Sawant said the Central Committee did not have a formal meeting but had gathered informally and resolved to support the formation of the government. “There was no time to hold a formal meeting and discuss. So we met informally and decided over the issue,” Sawant added.
