Meanwhile, the Colva Police have reportedly strongly objected to the application for release on 30 day parole filed by Pacheco who has claimed that his mother is in a very serious condition and that he has to be on her side.
On Tuesday, Adv Rodrigues called on Judge Nutan Sardessai and apprised her of how the Sada Jail authorities were high-handedly violating the prison rules to help make Mickky Pacheco’s stay in jail comfortable. He further stated in his complaint that Pacheco after absconding and evading arrest for two long months had on June 1 surrendered before the Margao JMFC and was sent to Sada Jail where he has been lodged to undergo his six month jail sentence for having in 2006 assaulted Electricity department Junior Engineer Kapil Natekar.
Drawing Judge Nutan Sardessai’s attention that Pacheco was, on June 2 and 5, taken to the Goa Medical College without the mandatory jail uniform, Adv Rodrigues in his complaint has stated that Pacheco continues to refuse to use the jail uniform while the jail authorities remain a mere spectators to this violation of the rules just because he is politically very influential. He further alleged that as part of the VIP treatment amongst other jail rules violation, Pacheco is being high-handedly allowed to use mobile phones within the jail precincts.
Adv Rodrigues in his complaint has also added that every convict should be strictly dealt within the parameters of the jail rules and that Pacheco cannot be showered any preferential treatment in collusion and connivance with the powers to be.
Adv Rodrigues has urged Judge Nutan Sardessai to seek a report from the Superintendent of Sada Jail as to how the Jail rules are being high-handedly violated in giving such VIP treatment to Pacheco which the law and the jail rules do not permit.
In a statement to the media, Adv Rodrigues has claimed that Judge Nutan Sardessai while expressing anguish that the jail rules were being flouted has assured immediate appropriate action in the matter.
“Principal South Goa District and Sessions Judge Nutan Sardessai who holds judicial supervision over the functioning of the Sada Jail is empowered to report any illegalities in the jail to the High Court for appropriate action,” said Aires.
