Foreign noodles under radar

PANJIM: Noodle products of foreign companies have also come under the radar of the Food and Drugs Administration. Products from Singapore and Nepal companies were sent for testing on Tuesday.

Speaking to Herald, FDA Director Salim Veljee said, “Noodle brands from Singapore and Nepal were sent for testing today (Tuesday) at Bambolim lab and the report will come out in some days.”
FDA has also drawn an additional five samples of instant noodle products thereby taking the overall tally to 32 samples of around seven different brands which will be recalled from the market if they are found negative after the analysis.
However, some brands as mentioned by Food Standard and Safety Authority of India (FSSAI) of GlaxoSmithKline, Indo Nissin and AA Nutrition were not available at major malls, super markets and provisions stores. Efforts to check at other outlets are in process.
