VASCO: Taking strong cognizance of the repeated complaints lodged by the citizens of twin constituencies of Vasco and Mormugao, the Power Minister Milind Naik along with Vasco MLA Carlos Almedia paid a surprise visit to the of local office of civil supplies department and the mamlatdar office in Vasco on Wednesday Morning.
According to the information, several citizens of Mormugao taluka had met the power minister to register their complaint highlighting hardships faced by them. They had also accused the civil supplies inspector of favouring few individuals who were acting as agents and were collecting money from the people to get work done faster.
“Many a times we were made to stand in long queue in order to get our work done, but there are few people who had direct access to the office and the staff working in the office used to give us last preference” said Shradha Mahale, a resident of Shantinagar in Vasco.
As the complaints against the officer were increasing day by the day, the duo (Milind Naik and Carlos Almeida) decided to pay a surprise visit and to find out the truth and also to warn the office staff of severe action if such complaints were received in future.
“It is true and even I had heard that some people were acting as agents to the office. However, now the civil supplies inspector has assured me that she would not entertain anyone who is frequently spotted coming to the office in future.”
Also during today’s visit it was brought to my notice that the office is presently in total mess due to space crunch as well as staff shortage and thus it was decided and was also assured by the director of civil supplies Vikas S N Gaunekar that he would immediately start the process to fill up the vacancies and would start shifting of premises to some other location in the same building” Milind Naik said.
