The High Court of Bombay at Goa today directed the Mapusa Municipal Council to hear the kiosk owners before deciding on the demolition of six kiosks in the city.
Disposing off the petition against the demolition of six kiosks by the Mapusa Municipal Corporation, the court issued directions to the MMC to first issue a show cause notice to the kiosk owners, and only after proper hearing is given to the owners concerned, decide on demolition and that too only if necessary.
The Division Bench, comprising Justice D G Karnik and Justice F M Reis disposed off the petition filed by one Vilas Kurtarkar and 5 other kiosk owners.
The petitioners had stated that the MMC had directly issued the notice for demolition of the kiosks without giving any hearing to them.
The Court, after giving the above directions, subsequently disposed off the writ petition.
