MARGAO: After a long lull, peace was finally shattered atop migrant inhabited Moti Dongor after miscreants stoned a car parked outside a residential house on Sunday night.
A group of people from the migrant inhabited locality descended at the Margao police station on Monday morning to lodge a complaint with the police. Flanked by Tara Rajput and Maula Balbatti, the complainant Laxman Chawan stated that unknown persons had stoned his car parked in an open place at Moti Dongor Sunday night.
Both Tara and Maula told Herald at the police station that the situation at Moti Dongor is gradually sliding down once again after peace reigned on the hillock for three years. “We have asked the police to nab the culprits and send a strong message to the miscreants that the law will not allow them to go scot free,” the duo said.
When contacted, Margao PI Sudesh Naik said the police have registered a non cognizable case against unknown persons in connection with the stoning of the car. He admitted that this is the first incident of anti-social activity that has come to light at Moti Dongor since the last three years. The police is keeping a track on the activities of anti social elements,” he said, while conveying a strong message that the miscreants will be seriously taken to task.
Moti Dongor had repeatedly witnessed gang wars during the tenure of the Congress government. There’s been no major untoward incident atop the hillock after the BJP government came to power in 2012, with the government even invoking the National Security Act to detain two persons from the locality.
