MARGAO: Musical Warriors will organise ‘Goa Mogi Kantaram Utsav’ on the footpath outside the Institute Menezes Braganza, Panjim, on March 8 at 4 pm, which is when the government’s controversial Konkani Kantaram Utsav is scheduled to take place. The programme is in memory of group member Fr Bismarque.
Musical Warriors has invited all kantarists/tiatrists to join this parallel competition and raise their voices against the government’s faulty policies.
“It will be held in memory of our beloved musical warrior Fr Bismarque, who sacrificed his life for Goa. This will be a special kantaram competition based on the current issues of Goa and its people and emphasising the pain, troubles and issues plaguing our beautiful state to bring awareness amongst the people,” said Sudeep Dalvi, MW member. The parallel programme has been announced against the backdrop of widespread criticism against the State government and Tiatr Academy of Goa for organising an event to praise the government and luring participants with big cash prizes.
“All Goa-and Konkani-loving tiatrists are most welcome to join. For the prize, the winners will get a warm hug, a shawl and a coconut full of love,” added Dalvi.
Notably, Musical Warriors had earlier protested land grabbing and environment destruction issues across Goa.
